Organisational Details

The Free Speech Union is a non-profit public interest body, but it won’t try to become a registered charity due to restrictions on political campaigning by the U.K. Charity Commission. It has been incorporated as a company limited by guarantee, with founding members and a Board of Directors. The Board has two sub-committees—a Legal Advisory Council and a PR/Media Advisory Council—that provide expert advice to full members who find themselves under attack. In addition it has an Advisory Council of academics, public intellectuals, journalists, comedians and writers.
