Ofcom launches investigation into GB News after Catholic guest says Pride celebrates 'bizarre and unhealthy kinks'

Surprise, surprise: Ofcom has once again launched an investigation into GB News after a guest linked Pride with both paedophilia and bestiality.

Ofcom, the all-powerful media regulator, is reviewing remarks made by Caroline Farrow, a Catholic commentator, for potential breaches of broadcasting standards following her appearance on Alex Armstrong Tonight.

During a discussion about London's Pride parade on the fifth of July edition of the programme, Ms Farrow claimed the event was "not about gay rights" but had instead "become about celebrating every single sexuality that isn't heterosexuality."

"Very bizarre and unhealthy kinks and quirks, you know, like furries and bestiality and even minor-attracted, they call themselves minor-attracted people, you know, paedophiles."

The commentator, who also serves as a campaigns manager for CitizenGO — the conservative lobby group that has campaigned against same-sex marriage and abortion — has had her comments condemned by the leader of the Green Party, Zack Polanski, and has attracted more than 12,000 complaints to Ofcom.

The backlash to Ms Farrow's comments has been spearheaded by the Good Law Project — the campaign group founded by activist lawyer Jolyon Maugham.

Matthew Gill, a lawyer for the Good Law Project, described the comments as a "hateful trope."

Ofcom's rules state that material that may cause offence must be justified by context, adding that appropriate information should also be broadcast where it would help to avoid or minimise offence.
