Letters about the Durham Union Society not being allowed a stall at Freshers’ Fair
We have written to the Vice-Chancellor of Durham University to protest about the fact that Durham Students‘ Union refused to allow the Durham Union, one of Britain’s oldest student debating societies, to have a stall at Freshers’ Fair, which is the main way it recruits new members. Happily, the Vice-Chancellor did make alternative arrangements, so the Durham Union was able to set out a stall near Freshers‘ Fair if not in Freshers’ Fair. However, we copied in the President of the Students’ Union, Dan Lonsdale, and he took it upon himself to reply and we have replied to him.
Letter sent to Professor O'Brien on 1st October 2024.
