Performing Arts Fund
We are grateful to a generous donor who has made it possible for us to set up a Performing Arts Fund (‘PAF’).
On a discretionary basis, PAF awards will be made to individual members of the FSU who, in their capacity as performing artists, have been penalised, or threatened with a penalty, as a result of exercising their right to lawful free speech.
The PAF can only be used to help performing artists who are in trouble in the UK, are members of the Free Speech Union and have not breached our Statement of Values. In addition, the PAF cannot be used to reimburse artists who’ve run up legal bills before approaching the FSU for help.
Alongside the launch of the PAF, the FSU is working with Freedom in the Arts, the organisation set up by Rosie Kay and Denise Fahmy, on a joint set of Frequently Asked Questions (‘FAQs’) that will set out what steps performers can take to minimise the risk of being cancelled in the first place without self-censoring.
